Hot cast gloves are made on a slot die extruder of low density polyethylene embossed with an engraved design (pattern) on the surface of the plastic film as it is manufactured. As the hot polyethylene flows out of the die, a pattern is applied to the film. This is done by putting pressure on a rubber roller against an engraved roller, with the hot film running between the two; the pattern has small squares protruding out. The embossing creates tiny air pockets, which permit air to circulate around the hand and makes them easier to put on and take off.
